Techdome

Healthcare software development for clinics, labs and digital health teams.

Techdome builds HIPAA-compliant healthcare software for digital health ventures, clinic groups and diagnostic labs in the US, UK and India: telehealth platforms, clinic operating systems, EMR and e-prescribing, lab portals and connected-health devices. Compliance is designed in on day zero, with a BAA signed before we touch patient data.

Who it is for

Who we build for

  • Digital health ventures

You have a care model and need a platform that holds up under real clinics. We build the product, and compliance is part of the build, not a step after it.

  • Clinic groups

You run on spreadsheets, a low-code stack or several vendor tools and want one system. For one clinic group we moved intake, payments and nurse workflows to an offline-first app without taking the clinics offline.

  • Labs and diagnostics

You need test booking, report dispatch and patient communication in one place. We built a platform for pathology labs that does exactly that.

Each of these is a system we have shipped. The case studies below show how.

How a build runs

Eight weeks, five steps, one deliverable each.

The same Blueprint we use for every product. Compliance work starts in week one, so nothing surprises you at launch.

  1. 01

    Week 1

    De-Risk & Architecture

System Architecture, Data Schema & Risk Matrix

We audit technical feasibility, lock compliance requirements (HIPAA/SOC2), design relational database models, and create interactive UX wireframes.

  2. 02

    Week 2–3

    Foundation & Core Engine

Working Backend API & Cloud Infrastructure

We provision cloud infrastructure, configure zero-trust authentication (OIDC/SAML), and build core business logic and third-party API adapters.

  3. 03

    Week 4–6

    Full-Stack Integration

    Complete Feature-Complete Staging Application

We connect high-performance frontend interfaces with automated backend workflows, payment processing, and internal operational dashboards.

  4. 04

    Week 7

    Security, QA & Compliance

Pen-Test Review, WCAG 2.2 AA Audit & Load Tests

Exhaustive automated testing, accessibility auditing, vulnerability scanning, and end-to-end user scenario validation under high concurrency.

  5. 05

    Week 8+

    Production Launch & Handover

Live Production URL, CI/CD Pipelines & Telemetry

DNS cutover, real-time APM telemetry instrumentation, staff enablement training, and structured handover to ongoing growth pod or internal team.

Compliance

Compliance is designed in on day zero

HIPAA and a signed BAA
HIPAA architecture from the first commit, with tenant data isolation, role-based access and an append-only audit log.
UK GDPR and a DPA
For UK patients, a UK GDPR architecture and a data processing agreement, alongside the US controls.
Clinical signatures and records
Provider sign-off with a 21 CFR Part 11 cryptographic signature, and FHIR R4 for clinical data exchange.
Payments and accessibility
PCI-DSS payment tokenization where patients pay, and WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility for patient-facing screens.

Pitfalls

Where healthcare builds go wrong

Five patterns we see, and what to do instead.

  • Compliance left to the last month

Retrofitting HIPAA controls into finished software costs more than designing them in. Settle the BAA, access control, encryption and audit logging in week one.

  • A single-tenant build

A system made for one clinic turns into a rewrite when the second one arrives. Keep each clinic’s data isolated from the start.

  • Clinical workflows on a low-code stack

Flows that time out during charting, or fail when the connection drops, cost clinic time. One clinic group we worked with hit both limits.

  • Integrations scoped late

Pharmacy, lab and EHR partners set their own timelines. Scope them in week one, so a date at risk is known early.

  • No audit trail

If you cannot show who opened a record and when, you cannot answer an auditor or a patient. Log every access, append-only.

Before you hire anyone

Six questions to ask any healthcare software vendor

Use them with us or with anyone else. A vendor who answers plainly is worth a second call.

  • Will you sign a BAA before touching patient data?

It is the legal baseline for working with protected health information in the US.

  • Where is patient data stored, and who can reach it?

Look for named infrastructure, role-based access and an audit log, not a general assurance.

  • How do you keep one clinic’s data apart from another’s?

Tenant isolation should be tested automatically, not assumed.

  • Which standards will the system speak?

FHIR for records, NCPDP SCRIPT for prescriptions, PCI-DSS where patients pay.

  • Who owns the code and the infrastructure when we finish?

You should own the repositories and infrastructure once milestones are paid.

  • What happens when a pharmacy, lab or payment partner is slow or down?

Ask for queues and retries, so an outage delays work and does not lose it.

Pricing

Three ways to start.

Fixed scope and dates agreed before work begins. You own the code, the repositories and the infrastructure once milestones are paid.

  • Fixed-scope sprint

For one defined piece of work

    From $8,000

For a defined piece of work that is smaller than a full MVP, agreed up front.

    How sprints work
  • For a new platform

    MVP

    From $25,000

Typically 8 to 12 weeks, scoped with our Blueprint, to a working product that you own.

    How the studio works
  • Per engineer

For a team on your roadmap

    $25 to $45 an hour

All-in. At full time (160 hours) that is about $4,000 to $7,200 per engineer per month, depending on seniority.

    How pods work

Full terms are on the pricing page. The MVP cost estimator gives a first range before a call.

It covers the products clinics and digital health companies run on: patient intake and portals, EMR and charting, e-prescribing, pharmacy and lab integrations, billing and reporting. We build the full stack, from architecture and compliance through to production and support.
